Day On The Lake

Kathleen Bergann Photography

Blazer: H&M
T-Shirt: ASOS
Pants: Nasty Gal
Watch: Michael Kors
Gloves: Fashionista Jenn
Pumps: Tibi

A little over a month ago, my friend Jennifer and I shot some photos with a great photographer by the name of Kathleen Bergann. She is one of Jennifer's closest friends, and she did a really good job of captivating the look we were going for. As independent bloggers who post to document our journeys through life and fashion, Jenn and I often find it difficult to get a hold of people to snap photos for us, so whenever a skilled photographer offers, we are thrilled to accept the assistance.

Primary colors were the focus of both our looks, with hints of pinstripes and plaid sprinkled throughout. At the time, these pants were a new purchase from Nasty Gal (at a great discount might I add) so I was excited to style them up for a blogpost. The classic navy blue and white pinstripe can be a bit intimidating, but I found once I paired them with a simple graphic tee and ecru blazer, the look pulled itself together quite nicely. As it was pretty chilly that early February day, a great pair of navy gloves were a must to keep my hands from curling up. I finished off the look with a black leather pump and brick red lips.

I have a few more exciting posts to share with you all within the next couple of days, so look forward to that!

Until next time,
Bye for now.

City Chic

Jacket: Helene Berman
Turtle Neck: JCP
Pants: H&M
Oxfords: Topshop

Playing with a colorful backdrop as I pose for a few outfit shots. I've been loving the minimal look lately, just featuring one or two statement pieces, today that piece is this amazing checkered jacket by Helene Berman. Wearing an all black outfit really allowed the jacket to stand out.

Underneath, I layered a ribbed turtle neck sweater and a pair of black skinny pants. On my feet I'm sporting a pair of oxfords, the perfect pair of stylish and comfortable shoes to run around the city in. Hope you all are enjoying your Tuesday!

Until next time,
Bye for now.

By a Daisy

Hello beautiful people and welcome back! I took a walk down a different path and ended up near a bed of daises. The beautiful scene inspired me to stop and capture a few moments in their presence.

A few months back, I found this beautiful suede pencil skirt at a local thrift store and I knew I had to have it. At the time I had nothing else like it in my wardrobe, so the intense fuchsia color really drew me in. Pencil skirts are so very flattering and they are the perfect length for everyday activities. On top, I wore this sporty black mesh shirt to make the look a tad more daring.

I finished off the look with my favorite pointed toe heels by L.A.M.B.

In the words of a close friend of mine "I bid you peace and positivity as you start your day."

March to the Beat

And another demanding week kicks off...

I am in love with the comfortability provided by this look. To me it's the perfect mix of looking pulled together without trying too hard.

Mixing sporty and feminine pieces is one of my favorite things to do, and it can work for pretty much any occasion. Find a reasonably fitted t-shirt that you like to wear on lazy days and pair it with a skirt, as I have done here. The juxtaposition between the two looks cool and easy going.

Keeping things pretty neutral, I grabbed for my khaki jacket, not sure why but it added something to the look.

No music playing?? March to the beat of your own drum.

Simple.

Not everyday calls for edgy extravagance. As the title suggest, today's look is effortlessly simple. The last few days in Richmond have been very warm, almost as if the summer heat were making a comeback.

For this combination I ditched the jacket and went with a couple noir essentials. I feel as though you can never go wrong with a lightweight camisole and black faux leather skirt for many reasons, but the main one being that they are staples in every woman's wardrobe. On a night out with good friends and good food, this perfect pairing is sure to impress.

Take Me Back

Back to Spring that is.

The crisp colors and warm weather left me lusting for the return of my favorite season.

As 1950s fashion comes back in style, so too are the lovely silhouettes. There is something to be said about the comfort and ease provided by a full midi-skirt. Not to mention they are equally as beautiful on every body type. Both to compliment and contrast the drama of the skirt I threw on one of my favorite graphic tee's and a pair of cognac sandals. Very Spring, but more importantly Fall appropriate.

Nature Stud

Hello beautiful people. Happy Tuesday!

Plates and Zippers are always fun to have on your clothes, as are mixed metals. As you can see, I went a little metallic crazy today. This duo-style knitted sweater is not only very cool to look at, it's also extremely warm. Not sure if the fully functional zips were added for ventilation purposes or simply for decorative reasons, but either way they are much appreciated. The zippers on the knit add some detail and interest.

I paired the white knit with this impressive stud and zipper jeweled skirt.

May you recognize the passion and the possibility in your day today and have the courage to follow it
